Vijay Singh claims accused killer Max Sica brainwashed his family by acting in a 'goody goody' way

THE father of the murdered Singh siblings accused killer Max Sica of brainwashing his family by acting in a "goody, goody" way and encouraging his youngest daughter to allege he molested her, a court heard today.

In the Supreme Court in Brisbane, Vijay Singh was being cross examined by barrister Sam Di Carlo, for Sica, about an argument at the Singh family home in November 2002, about six months before the alleged murders.

The court has heard Vijay Singh and Sica had a major confrontation after Sica went to the house to accuse Vijay Singh of molesting his daughters and beating his family.

Police were called to the house and Vijay Singh told them Sica had been using his powers to manipulate and brainwash his family.

Vijay Singh told Mr Di Carlo that Sica had been brainwashing his family "right from the start."

Mr Di Carlo asked if Vijay Singh believed Sica had any special powers to brainwash people.

"Trying to show he was very goody, goody while I was away," he said.

Mr Di Carlo asked if Vijay Singh meant things such as taking out the bins for the Singh family.

"You think being nice to them was brainwashing them?" Mr Di Carlo asked.

Vijay Singh replied that he believed Sica had been brainwashing his family and manipulating them.

He said on the night of the altercation Sica had said he came to protect the Singh family but it was another case of Sica trying to manipulate his family.

Sica, 41, had pleaded not guilty to murdering Neelma Singh, 24, Kunal Singh, 18, and Sidhi Singh, 12, at Bridgeman Downs, in Brisbane's north, on April 21, 2003.

Mr Di Carlo also asked Vijay Singh about Sidhi going to the school counsellor and making a complaint about Vijay molesting her.

Vijay Singh said Sica had manipulated Sidhi to make the claims.

"He brainwashed my daughter...it was him it was Max Sica who told her to go to the school counsellor. I am not a child molester.

"Max Sica told my Sidhi that I was having affairs and had to be pushed out of the house," Vijay Singh said.

He said the police had investigated the claims and no charges had been laid.

Earlier, Mr Di Carlo had cross examined Vijay Singh at length about the confrontation when his wie Shirley Singh, and his daugthers Neelma and Sidhi were there, on November 22, 2002.

Mr Di Carlo asked if at any time did Sica try to stop Vijay Singh from calling the police, to which Vijay Singh replied: "No."

Vijay Singh rejected a claim that Sica had not used violence to him.

"He (Sica) held me by my neck...he forced me to sit down and he pinned me with his knee," Vijay Singh said.

Mr Di Carlo said Vijay Singh had made threats to Mr Sica.

"You said wait and see what I can do, you will be surprised...what did you mean by that?" Mr Di Carlo said.

Vijay Singh said he meant he would report the incident to authorities as Sica had no right to come into his house.

He said he kept telling Sica that he (Sica) was on parole and was a criminal who had no right to be there.

Mr Di Carlo asked Vijay Singh about allegations he had tried to force his wife Shirley Singh to have sex with Sica and have a threesome with the Singhs.

"I reject that," Vijay Singh said.

Mr Di Carlo asked was it true that Sica and Shirley Singh had decided to lie and pretend they had sex.

Vijay Singh said it was not true and also denied he had turned against Sica when he found out that Sica had not actually had sex with Shirley Singh.

He also denied he had forced Shirey Singh to have sex with "dozens of other men" while he watched.

"Only on two occasions," Vijay Singh said.

The trial before Justice John Byrne continues.

MAX SICA WAS CALLED TO GO OVER TO THE SINGH HOUSE THE DAY OF THE CONFRONTATION BETWEEN HIMSELF AND MR SINGH.

Sidhi Singh and then Neelma had called and text Max to ask for his help. There are phone records showing this and the text messages that were sent. There are also police records and statements made by all involved. Max did not just rock up to the house, barge in and cause havoc.

On the recording of the whole incident (all of it not just bits and pieces) you can clearly hear Mrs Singh tell Max that he has her permission to be there and that he is there in her favor. You can also hear on that recording Mrs Singh in her own language accusing Mr Singh of inappropriate behaviour towards their first born daughter when she was a child. Max was asked by Mrs Singh, Neelma and Sidhi to accompany them when they went to make the complaint. It was not Max who brainwashed them into going there.

Mr Singh did make threats to Max on that recording and you can clearly hear them. Max says on that recording...Dont worry, im not going to hurt you, what do you think i am like you? Im just going to wait for the cops. Remember that Max did not know that Mr Singh was recording the whole incident.

Mr Singh stated in court that the last time he spoke to his children was on Saturday the 19th of March 2003. He did not speak with them at all on the Easter Sunday. He then said that on the Easter Monday, he was going to send some money to Neelma and had to fax a code to her at the house so she then could use it to go get the money. He says that the fax did not work, that he tried to call Neelma and did not get a reply. I wonder why he did not try to call his other daughter A rchana and ask her to contact her sister and tell her he was trying to fax her so she could go get the money he had sent. Mr Singh had instructed Archana to keep an eye on the other kids while he was away, Archana had stated at committal that she was in constant contact with her siblings and was like their shadow. If she had tried to contact her siblings on the Easter Monday and kept on getting no reply, was she not worried as to why? Did she try to contact her siblings during the day on Tuesday?

Mr Singh today stated in court that for 37yrs he has prayed to his God on Mondays and fasts on that day. He even said he was fasting today and that defence lawyer Sam Di Carlo was insulting his God. He stated that they had many Gods which were the removal of evil in any form or way of life.

In the BHAGVAD GITA (indian bible or holy religious book) it is taught that adultery and fornication if one of the highest forms of sin, let alone between a married couple. Even women are taught to hold on to their virginity until married, hence the tradition of arranged marriages as chosen by the parents.

Mrs Singh herself stated that Mr Singh was not a religious man but only took part on major prays and or occassions.

It doesnt matter what religion you come from or what God you believe in as we are all taught that there is only one God. If my God teaches me that adultery is a sin, i know that i will never have the conscience after having participated in fornication to bow my head and pray for justice for the 3 Singh children...mind you, im not even their parent.

The Singh family when it suits them, uses their religion as an excuse to justify most of their beliefs and actions, on the other hand when things dont go to their liking or reflect the aussie culture, they bend towards the ever modernizing western world and culture.
